Sociologist, dedicated humanist, author of The Psychic Factors Of Civilization (1893) and Pure Sociology (1903). Ward taught that although class struggle was the basis of animal evolution, among humans it should be the achievement of pleasure. His ideas, along with those of the like-minded John Dewey, have long been embraced by the education establishment and influenced the very foundations of the system we have today. |
