Alfred Adler
1870 - 1937

Psychologist and psychotherapist. Adler was a contemporary of Sigmund Freud, and shared some of his theories at first. However the two split over their ideas, and Adler went on to develop a theory of Individual Psychology and study of inferiority complexes which are still taught today, and which some say have surpassed Freud's work in their significance. Author of Understanding Human Nature (1904) and other works.
